Building on Our Vision
The Statement of Strategy 2006-2009, entitled 'Building on Our Vision' provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities facing FÁS in the period 2006-2009. It describes the action that FÁS will take to deliver higher quality programmes and services to meet the needs of a diverse range of customers and stakeholders in a changing labour market and policy environment. It also sets out a number of planned internal actions designed to make the organisation more responsive to these needs. In this context, the vision embraced by FÁS is to "excel in providing labour market services".
FÁS identifies its mission as one of "promoting a more competitive and inclusive knowledge-based economy, in collaboration with its stakeholders, by enhancing the skills and capabilities of individuals and enterprises".
On this basis, FÁS defines its core values and outlines a number of high priority goals for achieving the mission. This is within the context of understanding the changing external economic and labour market environment as well as taking into account EU and Government policy and Equality legislation. A focus on service and programme excellence and innovation and improving labour market equality are also key elements in the FÁS strategy.
