Who can avail of the Childcare Employment and Training Support Scheme? You can avail of the Childcare Employment and Training Support Scheme if you will be participating in training and require childcare to take up the training opportunity.
There is one exception:
The following programmes are not included in the scheme:
CE and JI, Supported Employment, Apprenticeship, Night Courses, FÁS e-College; Job Clubs and the Work Placement programme.
How it will work:
A list of childcare providers participating in the scheme will be available in all FÁS/LES offices;
When you receive the letter offering you a place on the course, you will also receive a list of local childcare providers;
You will use this letter to present to the childcare provider to book your required childcare place(s) for the duration of your programme;
Childcare providers will operate on a first come, first served basis;
On commencement of your training programme, you will also be provided with a letter confirming that you have commenced the programme and the start and finish dates of that programme;
You will use this letter to present to the childcare provider as confirmation that you now have a place on the training programme and to confirm the start and finish dates of the programme. The childcare place(s) will be available for the duration of the programme.
If you cannot source a childcare place:
In the unlikely event that there are no places available with local childcare providers, please let your City or County Childcare Committee (CCC) know stating clearly the location where childcare is required. The CCC (on behalf of the OMCYA) will endeavour to provide additional childcare places in your locality.
