Some people with disabilities may be in receipt of Jobseeker Benefit or Jobseeker Allowance prior to commencing training with FÁS. Existing arrangements for these recipients attending FÁS training will apply. The course participants will receive from FÁS a training allowance equivalent to their social welfare payment and a training bonus if they qualify under the normal training bonus criteria for long-term unemployed people (they must have been in receipt of Jobseeker Benefit/Jobseeker Allowance for a period of 12 months or more, or be transferring from a Community Employment programme or the Job Initiative).
Course participants who wish to obtain a FÁS allowance equivalent to Jobseeker Benefit/Jobseeker Allowance should fill out Form F103 and have it completed by the DSFA. FÁS will pay the equivalent of Jobseeker Benefit/Jobseeker Allowance as a training allowance.
Any other benefits held by the participant as a recipient of Jobseeker Benefit/Jobseeker Allowance will be retained. If necessary, FÁS will apply more flexible sick leave arrangements to these course participants if they have a verifiable disability.
