FÁS Programme Support

FÁS provides various financial supports in the form of allowances to assist participants of training courses, and grants or subventions to encourage employers to support training programmes. Community development programmes also benefit from grants, while FÁS encourages equality through the various support of its programmes focused on promoting equality, diversity and social inclusion. Jobseekers should be aware of changes to social welfare payments when engaging with FÁS.

Training

Participants of the majority of FÁS training courses are eligible for different allowances. The main allowances are given for the course participants' Training, Travel, Accommodation and Meals, and Childcare. (It is important to read the 'notes' sections under each of the allowances for conditions/applications.)

Employer

Employers can avail of Revenue Job Assist and Employers PRSI Exemption Scheme. Finally, there are separate wage supports for Apprentices in different industry sectors.

Communities

There are also a range of grants for the sponsors and supervisors involved with community development programmes, such as the Community Employment Programme, Job Initiative Programme and Local Training Initiative.

Equality & Inclusion

There are a range of grants available for people with disabilities and employers, including the Reasonable Accommodation Fund incorporating the Job Interview Interpreter Grant; Personal Reader Grant; Workplace Equipment Adaptation Grant; and Employee Retention Grant Scheme. Social Welfare Payment Changes are affected by the Back to Work Allowance Scheme; Back to Work (Enterprise) Allowance; Part-time Job Incentive Scheme; and Family Income Supplement.
