In order for employees to have the right skills and qualifications, FÁS offers training courses suited to every need, including online training through eCollege; evening courses, the Construction Skills Certification Scheme and Safe Pass suited to the construction sector. Traineeships, which combine formal training with workplace coaching, are developed in consultation with employers and trade unions, and are tailored to the needs of Irish industry and local business. Ireland's national standard for human resource management is awarded by FÁS' Excellence Through People, a successful business improvement tool designed to further an organisation's performance through its people.

FÁS is a registered organisation with the Garda Central Vetting Unit (GCVU) which "makes criminal history vetting disclosures to registered organisations in respect of, inter alia, prospective employees, volunteers, students on placement, and trainees who would have substantive, unsupervised access to children and vulnerable adults." This policy concerns FÁS' role as a provider of training and employment programmes, in particular in relation to the eligibility and recruitment of potential participants or trainees working or training to work with children and/or vulnerable adults*.
