The Craft of Metal Fabrication

Overview

The metal fabricator manufactures structures and products used in the construction of buildings, boilers, chemical plants, transportation vehicles and cranes. These products are often fabricated from sheet steel, rolled steel joists (RSJs) and other standard metal angles, tees and sections. Sheets of metal are rolled to form pipes and tanks.

Metal fabricators cut, shape and weld metal with the aid of oxy-acetylene equipment and powerful guillotines. They bend and fold metal using powerful brake presses to produce a wide range of products.
