The Course
The Office Administrator Traineeship aims to provide unemployed people with an excellent foundation in the Information Technology and clerical skills required to work in a modern office environment.
The duration of the Office Administrator Traineeship is 32-36 weeks, depending on the optional modules undertaken. The Traineeship consists of 22-26 weeks off-the-job training with FÁS and 10 weeks on-the-job training with a host employer.
The Job
An Office Administrator is a qualified worker capable of carrying out competently, under normal operational conditions, the day-to-day tasks arising in a busy office environment. These tasks include using a range of computer applications, maintaining accounts and databases, filing documents and organising travel arrangements. A good Office Administrator is one of the key success factors in the efficient operation of a profitable company.
The Person
You should have reached the current statutory school leaving age of 16 years and be educated to Leaving Certificate standard or have had previous training or work experience.
You should have good verbal and written communication skills along with good numeracy and literacy skills. Previous experience of working in an office environment would be an advantage.
Progression
When qualified you will have opportunities to progress to senior positions in the sector through your experience and further education or training which you may undertake in related areas such as administration, IT, accounts and business studies.
