On successful completion of the programme the learner is awarded a FETAC Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Supply Chain Logistics

The Course

The Supply Chain Logistics Administrator Traineeship provides an excellent foundation for school leavers, mature applicants and unemployed people to undertake the training required to gain employment in the supply chain management and transport field.   The duration of the Supply Chain Logistics Administrator Traineeship is 38 weeks.   The Traineeship consists of 22 weeks off-the-job training with FÁS and 16 weeks on-the-job training with a host employer.

The Job

A Supply Chain Logistics Administrator is a qualified worker capable of carrying out competently, under normal operational conditions, the day-to-day tasks arising in the supply chain management and logistics industry.   The role of the supply chain logistics administrator is varied and includes working in the areas of purchasing, procurement, production planning and control,  transport, distribution and customer relationship management.

The Person

You must have reached the statutory school leaving age of 16 years and be educated to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent.    You should have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.   A basic knowledge of computer application systems would be an advantage.   Previous experience of warehousing, distribution, retail and shipping is desirable, although not essential.

Progression

When qualified you will have opportunities to progress to senior positions in the supply chain management and logistics industry through your experience and further education or training which you may undertake in areas such as Supply Chain Management, Business,  IT and related areas.

Successful learners will receive a first year exemption from the three year Diploma in Materials Management from the Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (IIPMM).   Subject to certain conditions,  learners can progress from the Diploma in Materials Management to Year 4 of a Degree in Business Studies in some third level Institutes of Technology.
