Sales and Marketing Assistant Traineeship


On successful completion of the programme the learner is awarded a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Sales & Marketing

The Course

The Sales and Marketing Assistant Traineeship provides unemployed people with an excellent foundation in the skills and knowledge required to become a Sales and Marketing Assistant.

The Sales and Marketing Assistant is a 30 week programme, consisting of 20 weeks off-the-job training with an ETB and 10 weeks on-the-job training with a host employer.

The Job

The Sales and Marketing Assistant is a qualified worker capable of carrying out competently the range of tasks arising in a sales and marketing environment.   The range of tasks includes:  analysing market opportunities using published and statistical information sources, personal selling, internal sales support, forging relationships with clients and assisting marketing personnel in the preparation and implementation of promotional activities.  

The Person

You must have reached the current statutory school leaving age of 16 years and have successfully completed the Leaving Certificate with a pass in Maths and English.   You should demonstrate good communication skills, a genuine interest in marketing and possess good analytical , numerical and word processing skills.   You should be well motivated, focused, capable of accepting responsibility and be a good team player.


When qualified you will have opportunities to progress to senior positions in the sales and marketing sector through your experience and further education or training.   Learners seeking progression options within the sector should contact the Irish Marketing Institute or their local Institute of Technology.
