The Course
The Business Systems Service Technician Traineeship provides an excellent foundation for school leavers, mature applicants and unemployed people who wish to undertake the required training to work as technicians, installing and servicing Information and Communications Technology (ICT ) business equipment such as printing systems and computer networks.The duration of the Business Systems Service TechnicianTraineeship is 33 weeks. The Traineeship consists of 25 weeks off-the-job training with FAS and 8 weeks on-the-job training with a host employer.
The Job
A Business Systems Service Technician is a qualified worker capable of carrying out competently, delegated tasks in the Business Equipment Service Industry. The Business Systems Service Technician installs, repairs and maintains analogue electronics/digital electronics, printing, data communication and network operating systems. Through the use of specific computer packages the technician maintains and updates on-site business systems.
The Person
You must have reached the statutory school leaving age of 16 years and have attained the Junior Certificate with a minimum of grade C in maths. An approved colour vision test will be a requirement for entry to this traineeship as good colour vision is essential. Good interpersonal skills are important. You will need good verbal and written communication skills as well numeracy and literacy skills. Relevant experience in engineering and/or electronics and/or computing is desirable.
Progression
When qualified you will have opportunities to progress to senior positions in the Business Systems Service sector through your experience and further education or training which you may undertake in areas such as computer networking or management.
